Why vote for Peter Clout for Division IV Director Elect?

To improve the value of meetings and publications to us, the members.

For professional development there can be nothing better than a volunteer-driven organization like the IEEE. The reason I have worked for the IEEE as a volunteer is because I believe that making conferences more successful, increasing educational opportunities and improving publications is a benefit to all in our communities and especially our members. One has not only to do this, but one also has to tell the community about all the possibilities for interacting with ones colleagues in one’s technical field and advancing the part of technology one is practicing in. As a consequence of all this, membership will grow.

• I believe that our careers and society as a whole benefit from open communications about our work in engineering and science and this is especially true today.

• As a volunteer in IEEE and my principle society, NPSS, it has been my job to enable this for not only our members but our technical communities.

• Success comes from cooperation and as Division Director:

o  I will work with the AdComs and Presidents of our 7 societies to better serve you, the members, remembering that as your Division Director I sit on the IEEE Board to ensure that your voice is heard.

o  I will keep the volunteers in our group of technical societies informed of what is happening within the Societies of Division IV and at the IEEE Board level.

• I have seen strong growth in society IEEE conferences outside North America and I will work to see this grow more by further expanding IEEE volunteer support for international activities.

• Building on what we now have in IEEE, and particularly what we have in Division IV, will increase the value to you, the members.  This is my goal.

I ask for your vote so that I can continue this work in collaboration with the Presidents and volunteers in Division IV and further improve the value of your IEEE and Society membership. I will ensure that actions of the IEEE board are in the best interests of our membership.
